Premier defense manufacturer is actively searching for a Senior Product Development Engineer to be an integral part of their Philadelphia, PA area Research & Development team.
Responsibilities:
-> Applies creativity, engineering principles and better design practices for the design and development of new products. Uses analytical tools to conduct detailed technical analysis of new product ideas -> Functions as a technical lead on design programs: generates and monitors product development schedules, defines product specifications and design to cost goals, provides periodic program updates, coordinates review meetings, functions as customer POC -> Generate and analyze design and performance data, and costing of the new products. Such data may come from: laboratory experiments, mathematical analysis, physical testing, literature references, and modeling -> Conducts design verification testing of functional prototypes. Verifies performance to specifications -> Writes technical reports and white paper proposals -> Assists a cross-functional team to transfer new products to production
Requirements:
-> 10+ years experience with considerable experience in mechanical product design -> BS Mechanical Engineering (MS preferred) -> Demonstrated ability to drive development programs to successful conclusion in a timely manner -> Ability to work independently on multiple projects -> Good understanding of manufacturing processes -> Sound knowledge of design verification, testing procedures, statistical tools and failure analysis -> Ability to apply qualitative and quantitative data analysis to solve problems -> Working knowledge of SolidWorks or other CAD software -> Excellent oral and written communication skills -> This is government contract work which requires candidates to be a U.S. citizen (without dual citizenship) and have the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance
