Product Development Technician- Salaried Bargaining Unit Temporary
The Product Development Technician is responsible for supporting various test requests that are critical to the Chassis and Powertrain communities. Typical tasks include fixture fabrication and assembly, test setup and monitoring, working with hydraulic and pneumatic test equipment and controllers, part removal and replacements, test teardowns, and interaction with Lab and Release Engineers. This position is for a 2nd shift technician in the Mechanical Life Test Lab operation.
Basic Qualifications: • Strong overall vehicle knowledge and mechanical skill
• Fixture and bracket fabrication skills
• Shop skills including table saw, band saw, grinders, sanders, drill press, pneumatic tools, etc.
• Machine shop skills: lathe, Bridgeport, power shear, iron worker, rotary punch, welding of aluminum and steel
• Test monitoring skills
• Ability to work overtime as required
Preferred Qualifications: • Highly motivated and strong work ethic required
• 1-5 years of experience in testing
• Familiarity with electro-dynamic vibration shakers, hydraulic and pneumatic test equipment
• Experience with test controllers, instrumentation and sensors desired
• Strong communication skills
• Great attitude and proven abilities
• Plasma arc cutting experience
• Data acquisition experience beneficial
• Experience with strain gaging and calibration beneficial
