The Mechanical Product Valve Engineer role supports the Dresser-Rand Gimpel Valve division. This role entails working with Application Engineers to define and implement the proper valve design to meet client specifications and work with supply chain management to ensure appropriate materials are specified and purchased. The incumbent will also help to resolve any manufacturing issues. This position is based in Houston, TX USA. Position Qualifications (Required and Preferred):
Required:
* Bachelor’s degree in a Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. * Must be US Citizen to work on US government and military projects. * Minimum 1 year of experience in product design of any one of the following: control, gate, safety, choke, or control valves for rotating or large oilfield equipment. * Ability to obtain necessary classified U.S. Government clearances. * 5 years minimum mechanical engineering experience. * 1 year machine shop manufacturing environment experience. * 2 years of AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience. * Ability to read and apply customer specifications. * Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency. * The willingness and ability to travel up to 25%. * Experience with any one of the following applications of ASME, ANSI, API, and Military specifications as they apply to valves. * Ability to make independent decisions as required based on education and experience gained.
Preferred: * E.I.T certification. * 2 years experience in design of fluid handling components in steam power systems. Position Responsibilities and Duties:
* Technical design support for developing new equipment and upgrading current designs. * Update engineering calculation program to comply with ISO requirement and issue control copy for use in sales and engineering department. Maintain program to current Industrial standards. * Create new engineering programs as required to support design activity in engineering department. * Contribute/track/participate in team activities and goals. * Document via Quality Control and Instruction/Operational Procedures engineering department processes. * Provide Engineering disposition on non-conforming components with technical justification for customer approval. * Provide assembly and test calculations to manufacturing. * Provide support for Supply Chain Management, especially regarding casting quality and material selection. * Prepare supporting documents and calculations for order processing and upgrade procedures and tech manuals. * Provide Engineering support for military projects and follow through to completion of each project stage. * Create and update technical documents, including operations, installation, and repair manuals for military products. * Follow up on product proof testing at various testing laboratory locations.
