Trillium Staffing has a unique Product Engineering Team Leader opportunity at a construction manufacturing company in Dexter, MI. Description
The responsibility of the Product Engineering Team Leader is to optimize the design and application personnel in the most effective manner to achieve established metrics for safety, quality, cost, and productivity.
Take responsibility and provide leadership to the engineering staff, customers (both internal and external), and manage the engineering processes and procedures.
Develop a high-performance team with high levels of morale, job satisfaction, and performance.
Drive the continuous improvement process by educating and training team in CI techniques and systems.
Design, develop, and test products following standard engineering process. Manage product engineering projects within cost and time requirements.
Provides prototype and finished product designs as required.
Provides product design changes as required. Uses computers extensively to produce and analyze designs, to simulate and test how a product operates, and to generate specifications. Works within designated computer applications to accomplish tasks.
Verifies specifications on bids and special orders and other projects within designated product line as requested.
Evaluate new manufacturing technologies and recommend changes for cost effective designs and manufacturability.
Work with the Aviation Sales team in the solicitation of new orders from existing and potential customers.
Ensure that all product conform to the most recent and applicable standards, and recommends manufacturing processes that are capable of producing products that will consistently conform to those standards.
Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service departments to actively seek out ideas for new products and redesign on existing products.
Researches, specifies, and approves all non-standard purchase components and assists purchasing with procurement of said components within designated product line and as requested.
Attends trade shows and seminars, as necessary, to remain current with trends in designing for cost effectiveness and manufacturability.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Agricultural, Mechanical, or related); minimum of 4 years prior work experience in a manufacturing or field service environment; hydraulic and electrical design and analysis in a construction or agricultural environment preferred; proven problem solving skills and demonstrated decision-making skills are required; effective interpersonal skills are necessary. Essential traits for this position are experienced leadership and an innovative approach; a self-starter who enjoys the challenge of implementing continuous improvement activities; proficient computer skills including Microsoft application.
