Job Description
Responsibilities:
· Define market requirements based on customer functional, usability and robustness requirements, ensuring product requirements reflect the broader need of our primary markets. Ensure these requirements are understood by the technology organization such that they are met in the design and development of our Engineering Environment and I/O protocol products.
· Understand the value of the product features in the market place such that the Emerson organization can capture maximum revenue and increased market share by delivering this functionality to the marketplace.
· Develop functional requirements specifications for DeltaV Engineering Environment products (e.g. DeltaV Control Studio, DeltaV Recipe Studio, DeltaV I/O interfaces, DeltaV Diagnostics, DeltaV Explorer, DeltaV Bulk Edit, DeltaV â?? SmartPlant Instrumentation Interface).
· Develop functional requirements for DeltaV FF and HART products that allow the DeltaV system to be the first system to pass host registration requirements as released by the Fieldbus Foundation and HART Communication Foundation.
· Promote expandedWirelessHART solutions with the DeltaV system by developing functional engineering environment requirements allowing control with wireless process inputs and outputs.
· Work with other Emerson divisions to develop integrated product solutions that drive market preference for the combination of DeltaV and other Emerson products.
· Work with the Project Management Office to ensure new engineering tools product functionality can be seamlessly integrated with Emerson project engineering standards.
· Maintain DeltaVâ?? s leadership role in FF and HART technologies by ensuring Emersonâ??s ideas are well-represented within the standards committees of these two I/O protocols.
· Create and enhance strategic engineering data interfaces to non-Emerson engineering productivity applications (e.g. Intergraphâ??s SmartPlant Instrumentation) to streamline project engineering and drive customer preference for the DeltaV system within the major, global EPCs.
· Provide marketing leadership (i.e. guidance, direction, and oversight) to ensure that market requirements are clearly understood and addressed within the product development process.
· Work with DeltaV MARCOM team to develop a product launch, rollout, promotional plans and associated marketing collateral (e.g. product data sheets, presentations, brochures, videos) that will ensure the successful promotion of the DeltaV Engineering Environment products in the marketplace
· Work with the product engineering group as required to analyze and resolve engineering environment related customer disruptive events.
· Provide sales support on unreleased products for key accounts and critical project pursuits
· Provide support for Emerson â??internal eventsâ? (e.g. Emerson Exchange, Sales Training) and tradeshows.
· Develop and submit papers that will increase and enhance the marketâ??s image of Plantweb and DeltaV as the â??best-in-classâ? process automation system for publication in process control and industry trade journals.
· Keep the entire management team aware of the program status, raise issues as necessary to make sure the organization meets the goals for Engineering Environment development programs.

Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
· Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, similar technical degree, or equivalent
· 8+ years of marketing, sales, or project (design, implementation, commissioning, startup and maintenance) experience with process automation and control systems.
· Experience with process automation and control system engineering software (e.g. IEC control languages, including function block diagrams, ladder logic, structured text, and SFCs) and I/O technologies including FF, HART, WirelessHART, Profinet / Profibus DP, Ethernet IP / DeviceNet, Modbus / Modbus TCP, AS-i bus, IEC 61850, Wireless, Remote I/O technologies.
· Demonstrated abilities to lead a team where there is no direct reporting relationship (influence management)
· Experience in consultative selling, financial analysis and business justification techniques
· Presentation skills (must be able to effectively communicate a vision)
· Competency as a â??Self Starterâ? and comfort in dealing with and managing ambiguity
Preferences:
· MBA
· Familiarity with internal and EPC project workflows and the engineering productivity tools used by automation project teams
· Experience with the process industries, especially oil and gas, refining, chemical, life sciences, and specialty chemical
· Knowledge in sales or marketing of high tech products.
· Experience with Emerson or competitive field instrumentation and lifecycle asset management products
· Managing complex product development issues such as product life cycle, product support and product target costing.
· 2+ years managing or leading others in a supervisory role or functional management role
· Familiarity with the Emerson Process Management
