JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title: Production Engineer
Reports to: Production EngineeringManage
Overall Duties: · To provide engineering support within manufacturing and to ensure the design of a product is such that it can be produced to meet the requirements of safety, quality, cost and delivery.· To apply knowledge/skills to assist in the introduction of new technology and processes with reference to safety, improved quality, improved productivity and new product introduction· To solve problems and improve processes and methods with manufacturing teams, drivingchange and continuous improvement.
* Actively work to improve health and safety with in the business.
Key Responsibilities:
* To provide suitable methods, processes and instructions for the manufacture of products to meet requirements of safety, quality, productivity and cost, (eg. Implement Standardised Work documents including training and sign off).
* To represent Operations as a member of the design team for new products, with specific responsibility for the safety, quality and ease of manufacture of the product.
* To action product design changes as necessary, produce assembly planning documents as required for all stages of the manufacturing process.
* Manage programmes for change and continuous improvement, promoting a right first time culture, using lean manufacturing, problem solving and continuous improvement techniques and by addressing customer complaints.
* To carry out any necessary quality system audits as directed by the company audit schedule.
* To assist Cell leaders with risk assessments, working with the Environment, Health and Safety Dept to identify and reduce significant environment impacts of plant operations.

* To support the Preventative Maintenance Programme for equipment and tooling in use in the assembly sections to ensure that downtime is minimised.
* To assist with the training of manufacturing staff on manufacturing processes using Standardised Work documentation.
* To assist manufacturing staff to achieve output targets.
* To represent the Manufacturing Cell in Contract Review meetings and ensure that relevant control methods are used for the production of non-standard products.
* To design test equipment and tooling as necessary.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONQualifications and Experience:
* Engineering degree or HND qualification.
* Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience ideally with electro-mechanical background.
* Desktop CAD packages.
* Familiarity with writing specifications, procedures and instructions.
· Experience of Lean Manufacturing techniques.
· Strong MS Office skills (word/Excel)
· Highly motivated, organised individual able to work well independently & within a team.
· Good interpersonal skills.
