Reaxis, Inc. is a specialty chemical manufacturing company, located in McDonald, PA, just outside of Pittsburgh, PA and has been in operation since 1935. Reaxis, Inc. manufactures an extensive range of products that are used in numerous industries including plastics, coatings, elastomers, adhesives, sealants, hydrogen pyroxide, oil/gas drilling additives and lubricants.

The company’s standard and specialty products are applicable in a wide range of chemistries including catalysts for esterification, polyurethane reactions as well as finishing chemistries.

As a result of its business growth and future retirements, Reaxis, Inc. is seeking to fill several Production Operator positions. These positions involve a variety of duties dedicated to manufacturing, warehousing and shipping high quality, specialized tin related chemical products in an efficient, effective and safe manner.

The production operator positions are organized into two wage classes, determined by the job duties and associated knowledge, skills and abilities to capably perform those duties.

Duties

Wage Class 1 duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Operate a forklift to transport product and packaging
• Package chemical products and operating the packaging line
• Ensure product and packages are clean and properly labeled
• Monitor  various production related tanks such as the leach tank, precip tank and wastewater tank
• Assist in warehouse duties
• Maintain clean work areas
• Work in a safe manner, follow plant safety rules and wear applicable personal protective equipment (PPE – hardhats, safety shoes, gloves,)

Wage Class 2 duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Operate the production equipment for the four main production processes.
• Follow written operating procedures to make products according to procedures and specifications
• Monitor the equipment and chemical products and obtaining samples of in-process and final products for laboratory analysis
• The four production processes include:

-          Sodium Stannate (oxidized form of tin)

-          Potassium Stannate

-          Stannous Chloride

-          Stannous Octoate

• Perform basic equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and repair
• Maintain clean work areas
• Work in a safe manner, follow safety rules and wear applicable personal protective equipment (PPE – hardhats, gloves, safety shoes)

Wage class 1 rates begin at $12.00/hour and can reach $15.00/hour after 12 months

Wage class 2 rates begin at 70% of the full wage class 2 rate ($14.00/hour) and can reach $20.00/hour after 18 months.

Wage class 2 rates are achieved once an individual is able to capably operate production equipment for three production processes and maintained once the individual is able to capably operate all four production processes within two years.

Qualifications include:

• High School diploma or GED required
• Post HS technical training of education is helpful
• Prior operations experience in a chemical manufacturing plant, construction, piping field or large warehouse is helpful. (Applicants with these experiences and skills could move into wage class 2 in the first six months of employment)
• Learning ability and willingness to learn
• Forklift operating skills and/or certification is helpful
• Strong mechanical aptitude preferred
• Basic equipment service/maintenance experience is helpful; willingness to perform such duties, once trained is required
• Physically able and willing to perform the required work, work in cold/hot environments and work afternoon or evening shift if required
• Good interpersonal skills and able to work well with others
• Able to understand and follow standard operating procedures as required
• Self directed and able to take initiative when necessary
