Georgia Pacific's plywood mill in Prosperity, SC is seeking a talented leader for a
Production Supervisor position.
Responsibilities: To lead a wood products production team to work injury-free/incident free in a continuous manufacturing environment; consistent with our MBM management philosophy and framework. To supervise/coordinate production efforts that result in sustained improvement in all associated work processes including: Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance, reliability, quality, production and costs. Support the Machine Paced Operation (MPO) Process System to align and optimize the manufacturing enterprise in delivering value to the business.
Facilitate team development and communication, employee skill development, problem-solving and resolution, and building employee commitment and ownership. Hold employees accountable, and drive cultural change in which employees understand empowerment and accept responsibilities. Team size may range from 10 30 members.
General Tasks: To lead an operational team in the production of world-class products in a safe and efficient manner. To promote employee involvement; providing coaching, feedback and direction as required. To troubleshoot and resolve production issues, provide safety training to production associates, team development, and delivering training materials in a meaningful approach. To complete all paperwork and analysis in a timely and efficient manner. To monitor product quality and contribute to the overall direction and success of the Emporia operations.
Organizational Responsibility: Position reports to the Department Leader.
Contacts/interfaces: Maintain proper communications with management, coworkers and subordinates, focusing on customer needs.
Will interact with key operations personnel such as the Plant Manager, Superintendents (Operations and Maintenance), Human Resources Manager, Safety Manager, Environmental Manager, Quality Manager, maintenance personnel and production employees at all levels of the site organization.
Basic Qualifications: - A high school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors Degree with a preference in a technical or business discipline preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years supervisor experience in an industrial, manufacturing or military environment.
- Must have a solid working knowledge of MS Word and Excel, and the ability to learn various PC-based production reporting applications.
- Must be able and willing to work an assigned shift schedule, which may include day, night, weekend and holiday work hours. Shift schedule might change during employment.
- Experience coaching, counseling and developing employees
- Must make working safely the top priority, including wearing and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and enforcing safe work practices.
- Must be able and willing to work in a manufacturing plant environment, including extended periods of time in noisy, non-air conditioned or unheated areas.
