Project Controls Specialist

Our solutions help to automate plants and facilities and allow a wide range of personnel to receive and respond to changes in conditions more quickly and effectively, and thereby keep their operations running efficiently and safely.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Controls Specialist at our Foxboro, MA location.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Receive day-to-day work instructions from the Senior Project Controls Specialist and/or Project Controls Manager, but is expected to be self-starters and work independently.
2. May initiate and direct the work of others.
3. Develop Integrated Master Schedules and sub-Project schedules in adherence to established standards, establish project baselines, update progress, perform detailed schedule impact analysis and work with team members to develop contingency plans for migrating potential schedule and/or cost issues.
4. Track costs, prepare financial data for program reviews, prepare customer cost reports and other financial analysis, as required.
5. Prepare both routine and periodic progress reports, as well as, monthly status reports for stakeholders on cost and schedule, as required for each active project or subproject.
6. Collect historical data related to engineering and design, procurement, implementation, test, shipment and commissioning phases of projects for reporting and forecasting of future resource needs.
7. Evaluate schedule and cost impact of potential changes in project scope and implement approved change orders, including rebaselining, if required.
8. Provide recommendations for continuous process improvement related to project controls and participate in initiatives to improve scheduling and cost controls processes, policies and procedures.

Required Competencies:
- Must have excellent planning and organizational skills, and have the judgment and experience to identify cost and progress trends.
- Ability to work with limited instruction on day-to-day work assignments.
- Networks with internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.

Key Relationships:
Will interface with various levels of the organization, including but not limited to project management, engineering managers, business and financial managers, project controls personnel, verification & validation personnel and other team members. In addition, direct interface with major subcontractors, and periodic direct interface with the clients may also be required.

- Proficiency in the use of Primavera (P5, P6 or latest) scheduling software is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of SAP a plus.
- Working knowledge in the areas of project scheduling and cost controls, including critical path methodology (CPM).
- A minimum of 5 years of related experience.
- Experience working on large systems engineering, design and implementation projects helpful.
- Process controls and/or nuclear industry experience highly desirable.
- Strong problem solving, analysis and interpersonal skills, as well as, oral and written communication skills is essential.
- Must have the ability to interface directly with personnel at various levels of the organization.
- Ability to work with other team members and collaborate
- Willingness to work additional hours to meet deadlines on an as-needed basis

Education/Training:
- Professional with working knowledge of project scheduling and cost controls techniques and best practices.
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, or related discipline or equivalent experience is required.
- Advanced training or certificate in project planning, scheduling, cost controls or Primavera software applications is highly desirable.

Travel:
Position requires some domestic and international travel for meetings and consultation with partners, subcontractors and clients.
