Quality Assurance
Primary Responsibilities and Assignments: * Read, interpret and follow inspection procedures and quality plans. * Read and interpret blueprint and engineering drawings and be able to document non-conformances as required. * Lead internal audits by directing execution of all audit activities by cross-functional internal auditors. * Support the response to all corrective/preventive action requests. * Lead in the maintenance and revision control of the electronic Quality Management System (QMS) * Develop and maintain interpretative understanding of the ISO9000 series of quality system standards, thus serving as plan expert and resource to provide training and technical support to the entire Timken Boring Specialties team. * Other related activities as directed by the ISO9000 Management Representative. * Develop and maintain open communications to effectively resolve issues related to the quality system including not only local operation and associates, but also other Timken locations, business units, customers and suppliers. * Take a lead role in investigation, follow up and timely response to product quality issues, manufacturing issues, and information requests related to customer inquiries, concerns and/or complaints. * Ability to perform maintenance, calibration and repair on QC measuring equipment and devices including OD micrometers, dial indicators, dial/digital calipers, bore gages, etc. Must be able to maintain detailed documentation. * Coordinate plant scrap reduction efforts, including the summarization of plant yield performance, departmental scrap reduction goals and projects, and early warning response to high-scrap events. * Support the determination/development of appropriate inspection plans. * Lead and/or coordinate plan machine capability and Gage R&R programs. * Assist the Organization Advancement Training Analyst in the maintenance of Position Training Plans and working with lead instructors as needed. * Take an active role in the development and implementation of new product functionality by participating as required with Failure Modes Effects Analysis Teams as well as New Product Launch Teams. * Participate on appropriate cross- functional continuous improvement teams as required to meet facility business plan objectives. * Develop and routinely prove quality Key Process Indicators to the TBS leadership Team for defined areas of responsibility.
To qualify for this role candidates must meet the following requirements: * High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. * Associates Degree or 2 year technical certificate PREFERRED. * 3-5 years of experience within Quality capacity in a production /manufacturing facility is required. * Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions and decimals when checking dimensions, calculating wall thickness and bore mismatches. * Ability to read, write and speak English. Special Requirements: * Required to stand 90% of the time, stooping, bending, stretching, and awkward positioning is also necessary. Ability to function in various noise, temperatures and weather conditions. Finger dexterity and hand/arm steadiness to manipulate measuring devices to obtain accurate readings.
