Quality Assurance Manager Machine Shop
Anaheim located Machine Shop is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager.
The successful candidate will manage a small team of inspectors in our QA department and be responsible for the quality of the parts manufactured by our machine shop. Our company makes close tolerance precision machined parts which are sold to Defense and Aerospace customers.
We're looking for that person with the right mix managerial people skills as well as prior hands on inspection experience in a machine shop environment. This is not a job where you will succeed simply by spending your time reviewing paperwork or sitting at a computer. The successful candidate will be required to perform and demonstrate hands on mechanical parts inspection in order to effectively supervise, train and mentor a small team of QA staff. Good delegation and people skills are required plus an ability to manage time.
Job Duties:
- Work with the General Manager and Production Manager to meet product quality and production goals.
- Supervise a small team of inspectors; mentor them, direct and train the QA staff
- Serve as customer Point of Contact for all customer Quality issues.
- Inspect machined parts using hand inspection tools, surface plate setups, and CMM
- Produce or supervise the production of; in-process, first article and final inspection dimensional reports.
- Manage and maintain the AS9100 and ISO certifications and related quality manuals
- Serve as AS9100 Management Representative to senior management
- Supervises the maintenance of tool and gage calibration and records
- Prepare for and supervise quality audits when conducted by our customers
- Perform or supervise Internal Audits or supplier audits.
- Respond to Customer corrective action requests
- Prepare First Article AS9102 reports
Requirements:
Knowledge and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 5 Years experience as a mechanical inspector in a machine shop environment or experience in a machining production department if the skills requirements are satisfied
- Shop math, trig, knowledge required
- Experience with inspection hand tools, such as mics, indicators, height gages, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret ANSI Y14.5 engineering drawings
- Computer skills, such as email use, MS Word, Excel creation, PDF file saving,
- Experience maintaining AS9100 and or ISO9001 quality systems
- Experience conducting Internal Audits and audits of subcontractors
- Experience responding to and responding to Corrective Action Requests from our customers
- Experience working with Aerospace customer specifications such as Boeing, Rockwell, Lockheed, US Govt.
- US Citizenship required or equivalent
Additional Desired Requirements:
- Preference given to candidates with prior supervisory experience
- Experience with PCDMIS CMM software programs desired
- Experience with Model Based Definition and Boeing DPD procedures desired.
- Experience with inspecting parts made to Aerospace / Defense industry specifications
