Client located just north of Charleston, SC is actively looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer for a 6+ month contract assignment to manage select set of suppliers and coordinate all elements of the Supplier Quality Improvement program plant and engineering customers. Travel will be up to 40% of the time. NO Per diem.
Responsibilities:
-> Manage the quality interaction with suppliers, including assessing suppliers quality systems, QA activities and process approval -> Use APQP tools to manage successful resourcing of current product and process approval of new product -> Measure supplier quality performance against documented procedures and drive corrective actions to meet established targets -> Oversee and perform audits of supplier's quality systems and manufacturing processes -> Use project management tools and experience to complete assigned task
Requirements:
-> Bachelor's degree in Engineering -> 3+ years of experience in a Quality / Quality Supplier function -> Working knowledge and auditing experience to ISO 9001:2000 / TS 16949 quality system standards -> Automotive background with knowledge of PPAP, APQP & CP, SPC, GD&T, FMEA and GR&R preferred -> Experience as a Six Sigma Belt and knowledge working with overseas suppliers is a plus -> Product and process knowledge of Machining, Casting, Electronics, Assembly, Stamping and Coating are a plus -> Must have excellent communication skills and analytical problem solving skills
