Requisition Number 11-0006 Post Date 10/13/2011 Title Quality Engineer City South Windsor State CT Description As an independent member of the Operations team, responsible for effectively planning, coordinating and executing a closed loop quality execution program that supports company objective to achieve shorter time to profitability, lower cost of quality, reduced risk and higher customer satisfaction. This key individual will establish and refocus quality initiatives within Company's engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and service functions to achieve "zero-defects" for all current and future products and serves as the champion to infuse a quality culture among the entire business. This person will lead quality engineering and inspection to manage and improve overall quality level from supplier level through production, establish inspection processes, and create quality assurance testing models for analysis of raw materials, materials in process, and finished products. This highly visible position will often deliver reports (verbal and written) to the senior management team. Primary duties: . Create, document, and manage quality standards, metrics, and inspection criteria and on-going quality control objectives . Develop, mine and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products . Lead, promote and drive process control and improvement methodologies throughout the company . Provide quality standards, procedures and controls to assure product quality, including: design reviews, design verification, design maturity tests, FMEA, fault tree analysis, MTBF, and design of experiments . Provide technical expertise and recommendations as necessary . Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ISO 9001-like quality management systems . Implement and maintain QA module in company's ERP system . Review supplier and manufacturing quality documentation, including: first article inspection, control plans, MRB records, corrective action reports. Interact with vendors to ensure quality of purchased parts. . Work with others engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity/quality . Make presentations to senior management and other departmental meetings as required . Provide technical and statistical expertise to teams . Interpret quality control philosophy to key personnel within Company . Create and direct environmental test functions and applications . Conduct value stream mapping of manufacturing processes . Maintain active role on continuous improvement teams
Requirements BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas. Typically 5-8 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Primary Duties as presented above in a manufacturing environment. Advanced degree may be substituted for experience, where applicable. Must be able to demonstrate a perceptive, analytical and objective approach to problem solving. And be able to take on the quality initiative and champion it throughout the organization. Competencies:

Intelligent Root-Cause Analysis - rapid identification of root causes by leveraging a growing knowledge base of product design, process design, manufacturing (as-built and inspection), after market and quality event data. . Value Stream Mapping, Six Sigma . Proactive Action Enforcement - systematic implementation of containment, corrective and preventive actions and resulting Engineering Change Orders (ECO).
