Job Description
Performs professional research and development. Scopes and executes work of marked importance to the company. Outstanding creativity and judgment required. Contributes to advances in relevant technology.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Receives technical and administrative direction from Manager- R&D or other Manger/Director. However, has full responsibility for formulating, and executing research and development programs. Keeps supervisor informed, but is has high degree of technical authority.
* Responsible for locating fruitful areas for relevant research and development. Must continually consider all factors influencing acceptable, economical performance in commercial usage. Seeks optimum problem solutions that can lead to creation of new business or technical concepts.
* Responsible for leading teams of technical professionals, providing technical guidance, and independently conducting research and development in attacking critical problems.
* Applies a very high degree of imagination and creativity in the solution of problems of marked importance and difficulty.
* Participates in Technology Transfer into pilot and production phases.
* Responsible for management of project budgets.
* Responsible for assuring safety consciousness, monitoring work areas for hazards, correcting unsafe conditions and developing positive steps to enhance safety.
* Assists other scientists to achieve goals in their specialty areas.
* Assists manager in overall planning of programs.
* Serves on company committees and undertakes special assignments as requested.
* Must be able to “sell” new ideas and accomplish profitable use of new technology.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Four year undergraduate bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology
Required Experience
1 - 5 years experience working with in a research and development role
