* Makes studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies. * Formulates general safety policies and procedures to be followed by company personnel in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations. * Consults with all departments on design and use of equipment, fire prevention and safety program. * Inspects or tours organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, and recommends corrective or preventative measures where indicated. * Keeps managers and employees alerted as to the hazards of working with toxic fumes, dangerous chemicals, and any other hazardous substances. * Participates in the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, law suits, and insurance investigations. * Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies and company reporting policies. * Works with center management and corporate claims group, including working with the insurance carrier, to cut down on lost employee time and cut back on unjust claims. * Assists with developments of training programs or media designed to increase proficiency in safe work practices and promote safety consciousness. * Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs. * Maintains safety files and records. * Works with regional managers and supervisors to train on effective safety coaching and corrective action plans.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES * Provides work direction to 10 to 15 Center Safety Coordinators. * Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. * Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Requirements EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer a degree in organization safety or CUSA certification. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Valid driver's license with no DUIs.
