Description

Every person needs the support of others and we are looking for a motivated individual to partner with Operations on their financial needs. As a Senior Accountant with REM Minnesota, you'll be an important part of ensuring the success of the company as it as provides critical supports to those in need each day.

REM Minnesota is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to provide general accounting and financial analysis for the regional offices to support operations in making their financial decisions. In addition to this accounting support, the Senior Accountant also provides direction and training to Staff Accountants. This individual should be self motivated, have solid communication skills, strong analytical and problem solving capabilities and the ability to multi-task to meet multiple deadlines. Some general duties of this position may include assisting with budgeting, responding to audit requests, preparing and presenting financial reports, creating journal entries to appropriately record transactions, assisting in the hiring of new staff and much more!

Essential Job Functions:

• Provide support and direction to the Staff Accountants. Provide training as needed. May assist with the hiring process and provide feedback on performance.
• Prepare month-end general ledger journal entries and reviews work of others. Update and reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger and prepare trial balances and related financial statements on a monthly basis.
• Assist and direct the preparation of financial statements
• Assist in the review of financial statements and account analysis
• Ensure appropriate lease documentation is in place and all payments are made in a timely manner
• Contribute with the development and entry of annual and reforecast budgets
• Establish, modify, document and coordinate implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures. Assist with development and implementation of standard accounting procedures
• Maintain depository account records for multiple companies including the monthly reconciliation of these accounts
• Assist with the completion of all balance sheet reconciliations and the bank reconciliation for the depository account on a monthly basis
• Keep abreast with all filings for contracts that are received for changes in client contracts or new contracts
• Prepare selected workpapers for various audits
• Ensure Sarbanes Oxley compliance with all assigned areas and other audit requirements
• Interact with operational business directors and state accounting personnel
• Provide general accounting support to business units
• Perform other duties as required

Qualifications
Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in accounting or related field or commensurate experience
• Two to three years experience in accounting or related field
• Valid driver's license and driving record that meets insurability requirements as defined by the company, if applicable
• Knowledge of Oracle financials or other ERP system
• 
  Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the field
• 
  Excellent computer skills, data entry speed and accuracy, and related office equipment
• 
  Excellent written and oral communication skills
• 
  Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word
• 
  Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
• 
  Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• 
  Ability to work under pressure and time deadlines
