Senior Buyer

Our client is. a leading provider of custom high speed rotating equipment to the aerospace industry for over 45 years, producing cutting edge products for discerning customers in an AS9100 Quality environment. They are seeking a highly motivated, energetic candidate.

A successful candidate must:

• Be a well-rounded seasoned procurement specialist with experience sourcing a wide variety of items, from simple hardware, raw materials, and electrical components, to complex machined and fabricated assemblies.


• Be accustomed to working with little supervision and interacting directly with Engineers and Project Managers.


• Know expected industry lead times for parts and materials, and how to locate and qualify new sources.  Know how to achieve procurement cost and schedule goals through relationship building when vendor purchases are small yet critical to company success


• Be adept at identifying potential sourcing problems early in the procurement cycle.


• Have the technical expertise to communicate complex requirements to companies providing fabrication and other support services such as heat treating, anodizing, and electron beam welding.


• Have worked in an environment where quality is an integral part of all company activities.


• Be accustomed to effective purchasing practices in a fast paced environment.


• Be prepared to improve substantially the company’s Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) practices/programs with its supply base.

This position requires handling a budget of $3,000,000 to $5,000,000



The successful candidate will procure raw materials and deal with third party vendors to aid in the production process.

• Minimum 5 years purchasing experience in a small company, technically oriented, manufacturing environment.


• Must have experience in an ISO 9000 / AS 9100 quality system.


• 4 year degree; APICS certification preferred.


• DOD/DOE contract experience a plus.
