Position Overview:
Develops communication tools, processes and strategies that effectively inform and engage district employees, promote change management and build relationships within the District to promote a clear understanding of Human Resources processes, projects, benefits, goals and results.
Job Responsibilities:
. Coordinate and execute an internal communications program that develops understanding of the projects and promotes change management efforts of the Human Resources team across the district. Responsible for composing and editing frequent messages that are connected to HR projects and have internal stakeholders.
. Oversee and implement a Human Resources communication plan, including a communications calendar, drafting of key messages, implementation of Human Resources branding, and revamping of Human Resources website.
. Develop and execute a communications plan for employee Total Rewards, including communication of value of salary, benefits, pay for performance and training and development of annual Total Rewards statements to all employees.
. Develop and execute refined recruiting messages and develop related collateral material, utilizing a "Teach in Denver" brand; communicate these messages through several media, including brochures, recruiting fair materials, websites, and candidate outreach materials.
. Support development of messaging around broader District cultural norms, including communication of core values and systems for employee recognition.
. Provide and coordinate content for current internal communication mechanisms (Teamwork newsletter, ConnectEd newsletter for principals, Tuesday Telegram to Employees, others) and coordinate the ongoing development of various other effective internal communication vehicles and tools.
. Collaborate with the Human Resources project teams to communicate project objectives, deliverables, progress to date, anecdotal evidence, and measurable results.
. Research and collaborate with vendors who provide marketing and communications support materials.
. Provide relevant background information to the district's Communications team to inform local, regional, and national articles about the Human Resources projects.
. Serve as a member of the district's Communications team to help shape the wide range of communication efforts from concept to completion.
. Develop additional change management strategies to drive improved project results and impacts. Techniques would include but are not limited to training, stakeholder involvement, events / forums, and other vehicles.
. Provide guidance to HR leadership and project teams on effective change management strategies and practices.
. Develop supporting materials for change management efforts.
. Expand the use of technology tools such as social media to enhance HR and employee-related communications.
. Develop and deliver communications that promote understanding of the culture of DPS and connection with the mission of the District.
. Communicate information regarding HR policies and service processes to the employee base, including changes to these as they are implemented.
. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
. Bachelor's degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing, or Business Administration.
. A minimum of five (5) years experience in professional communication and change management roles.
. Excellent writing skills as confirmed through writing samples and references.
. Attention to detail, ability to follow through on projects and meet deadlines.
. Outstanding analytical, interpersonal, and written and oral communications skills.
. Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and with web publishing tools (Dreamweaver, HTML, etc.) .
. Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred.
. Previous experience supporting major change initiatives preferred.
. Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or other relevant certification in communications or change management preferred.
. Valid Colorado Driver's License, appropriate insurance coverage and acceptable driving record for the past three years.
Knowledge & Other Skills:
. Knowledge of Human Resources practices, programs and benefits for District employees.
. Knowledge of communications procedures and methodologies to effectively transmit information.
. Knowledge of change management procedures and methodologies and their application to large-scale organization change
. Ability to professionally handle confidential material and associated issues.
. Ability to work effectively in team environment.
. Ability to proof read; possess strong attention to detail.
. Strong desire to work in public education.
