Senior Cost Analyst Duties: Month End Close: oReview monthly results with U.S. plants oPrepare Six Pack commentary oPrepare group Report #1 monthly Plant Controller back up: oEnsure that plants have standardized forms/processes etc to enable this position to back up each plant controller in the event of sickness or open position Support needs of Director of Financial and Cost Analysis in the U.S.: oPrepare ad hoc analysis and reporting upon request oPerform cost and operating variance analysis Coordinate annual budgeting process for U.S. plants Standard Costing: oManage annual standards setting process for US and Canadian plants oReview and approve new product quotes/changes to existing products
Sherman Controller Duties: Partner with Plant Management: oActive participation in Plant Staff meetings oInvolvement in and support of Plant Review meeting oIdentify and manage process improvement initiatives oIdentify issues and proactively initiate analysis (labor, material usage, spending, etc.) oAd hoc analysis and reporting for plant and operations management oCost reduction monitoring, reporting, and results auditing (where applicable) Month End Closing: oInventory verification and control oPrepare and post journal entries oAnalysis of financial results oAccount reconciliations Month-end Analysis and Reporting: oPrepare month end reports oPrepare manufacturing variance analysis oPlant Manager Financial Review Costing and Analysis: oMaintain and update plant standard costs oPrepare ad hoc analysis and reporting upon request oPerform cost and operating variance analysis Coordinate and assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget oAnalytically review and challenge the budget and all assumptions oPrepare plant presentation and budget book. Ensure proper internal controls and compliance with SGC/IG policies and procedures oCoordinate and support annual Self-Assessment review oSupport ICS audit activities, coordinating plant responses and follow-up. Other duties such as: oMid-month forecasts oOversee and reconcile inventory cycle counts and annual physical inventory oSupport capital expenditure appropriation request development oCoordinate and support annual fixed asset desk review, triennial fixed asset audit oSupport Kaizen activities (where applicable)
Problem Solving: This position will need the capacity to meet the needs of a complex, diverse, dynamic and fast paced organization that will pose a wide variety of challenges from a manufacturing level. This position must answer these challenges quickly and accurately, keeping in mind the requirements from GAAP. Although some challenges have standardized answers, many do not, and require creative thought and strong analytical skills to solve. Typically, these questions concern inventory valuation, operational variances, location capacity, etc.
Knowledge: oBachelor degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA, CMA, or MBA preferable or equivalent, complementary work experience oMinimum 5 years of progressive cost accounting and analysis experience with a major manufacturing organization and a minimum of 2 years at a supervisor level. A strong emphasis should be put on knowledge of management accounting, cost and inventory accounting, and GAAP oStrong analytical skills are required to quickly grasp issues impacting the plant's financial results oStrong IT aptitude to deliver effective desktop reporting (paperless web-enabled environment), utilize business warehouse tools and MS Excel and PowerPoint for analysis and presentations oExcellent communication and presentation skills are required oCapable of leading a process team and able to define clear vision, goals, and service standards oAbility to manage projects, work independently, and communicate effectively to all areas and levels of the location oExcellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across plant and functional organizations. oDemonstrated client service orientation
