Senior Lean Process Specialist

Position Overview: 

Supports the Manufacturing Operations functions in the continual improvement of Safety, Quality, Service, Logistics, Labor and CAPEX Productivity through the application of Lean practices and the associated Lean Tools.  Works with Management and other resources to achieve the cultural changes needed to support Lean and the development of people to implement the Lean Systems and Controls.

Responsibilities include:

  • In conjunction with Management, defines the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to be measured and reported monthly for the assigned site(s).
  • Develops the Lean Visual Controls system for the site(s), including the parameters to be measured and the formats to be displayed at work cells and process areas.
  • Defines the Management Routine to be followed to assure that the Lean Visual Controls are monitored frequently by the key leaders and that corrective actions are initiated in a timely manner when indicated by the Controls.
  • Trains the sites Managers and Supervisors on the Lean Visual Controls, including how to read the displayed data and interpret when corrective measures may be needed.
  • Trains the Production and Support people in Lean Visual Controls, including how to measure and display the key parameters for the work cell / area and how to initiate actions when appropriate.
  • Conducts Problem Solving workshops as needed for continual improvement of Safety, Quality, Service, Productivity, Logistics, Labor and CAPEX productivity.
  • Participates in the Policy Deployment of the site(s) by planning activities and organizing Lean events in support of the Companys policies and objectives.
  • Identifies and communicates on improvement opportunities within the Manufacturing Operations functions for the assigned site(s).
  • Acts as an advisor to Plant Manager regarding prioritization of improvement opportunities.

Education and Work Experience Required:

  • BS degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or in a technical discipline where Lean principles were emphasized;  or a Lean Certification from a recognized Lean training organization plus five (+) years minimum experience working in an advanced Lean manufacturing environment. 
  • Demonstrated experience with Lean Tools including: Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping and SMED is considered a plus.
