Senior Mechanical Hydraulic Engineer needed for a leading global manufacturer in northern Illinois (northwest of Chicago). The Sr. Engineer will take a lead in the Global specification, design, prototyping, validation of new, existing and special products. Must have a thorough technical understanding of mechanical design and designing hydraulic cylinders and components. Local Candidates preferred. Responsibilities:
-> Mechanical & hydraulic product / system design per marketing or customer specifications -> Support and improve hydraulic pumps, valves, cylinders design, applications and control systems -> Preparation and review of documented design inputs and prepare detailed mechanical designs / layouts using 3D computer modeling -> Preparation, evaluation and review of equipment and material specifications -> Lead and supervise contract engineers -> Establish mechanical and / or hydraulic test cases and implement continuous improvement and cost saving projects -> Establish a global mechanical standard for Asia, Europe & North America (Design, Manufacturing, Quality test criteria, etc..) -> Support the development of an ISO 9001-compliant Quality Management System, and perform root cause analysis, and validate corrective actions, documenting failure Reports -> Manage multiple projects and meet project deadlines
Requirements:
-> BSME/MSME and/or hydraulic engineering -> 7+ years engineering work in designing and testing mechanical, hydraulic and or pneumatic systems -> 5 years of experience in project engineering -> Experience on FMEA, FEA analysis, FTA, FHA, process improvement, development, and test cases -> Hands-on machining skills, and ISO and lean manufacturing experience -> Project management experience with proven ability to provide leadership and accountability, and desire to work as a team -> Practical and theoretical understanding of statics and dynamics, and knowledge of mechanical engineering practices and techniques across the entire product and engineering life cycle -> Proven component and machine design experience (hydraulic products) -> Structural analysis software familiarity, such as COSMOS -> Strong 3D modeling skills (SolidWorks preferred) and 2D drafting experience. PDM experience a plus -> Able to read Engineering drawings and interpret requirements -> Proficient in spoken and written English with strong communication skills
