Requirements for the Shire U.S. Internship Program
Must be enrolled at an accredited college/university
Must have completed at least their freshman year of undergraduate study by internship start date - Undergraduate and Graduate students who choose to apply will be considered
Major required in a field appropriate to the internship
Minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale preferred
Legally authorized to work in the US
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to start on one of the designated start dates (see calendar of events below).
Shire will accept and consider intern applications from relatives of employees. Individuals will not be hired if they are in the direct line of supervision of a relative or if there is a work related conflict of interest.
Position details The Statistical Process Control group in Manufacturing Technical Services monitors data from our clients commercial manufacturing processes. The SPC group uses Sharepoint site to share process monitoring reports, trending charts, and data with other departments within Technical Operations. The intern will be responsible for modifying this site, currently a document library, to take full advantage of the functionality of Sharepoint to produce user friendly source of information on process performance. Specifically, the intern will modify the Sharepoint site to allow end-user to see Dashboards summarizing important results for each commercial drug substance process, and provide links from the Dhasboards to underlying reports and from the reports to the raw data.
Required Skills:
Some knowledge of biotechnology - Science and/or information technology background
Technical Skills
Advanced skills in Microsoft Sharepoint
Advanced skills in other Michrosoft programs, excel, word, and power point
Experience with Statistics peferred
Experience developing custom web parts
Other Requirements: Ability to work independently and with others
