Job Summary This position is responsible for the design, verification, and integration of SMT/THT equipment and tooling to support the production processes in SMT and THT departments.
Essential Functions 1. Program Setup, operates, and troubleshoots SMT and THT machines to support the production of PWA assemblies from PCB’s and components. 2. Support everyday production on the line: program, operate, & maintain machines, set up line for products, troubleshoot defects to assure 63% OEE/PP measurement. 3. Research and select technical reference information pertinent to specific assignments. 4. Prepare preliminary sketches, design drawings, and engineering specifications. 5. Recommend and implement engineering changes and improvements. 6. Monitor and maintain equipment to meet standards. 7. Interact with manufacturing and engineering personnel on a daily basis to ensure product specifications are met. 8. Develop and maintain preventive maintenance procedures for each machine. 9. Train, evaluate and support others in SMT and THT standards and best practices. 10. Implement and verify engineering changes, update all documentation, software, etc. 11. Support Production Standardization activities with other facilities.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities 1. Operate production machines as necessary. 2. May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Skills and Knowledge 1. Advanced math skills, including familiarity with trigonometry. 2. Advanced computer skills, including the use of CAD software. 3. Ability to develop, read, and interpret schematic and mechanical drawings. 4. Ability to operate all production machines. 5. Ability to anticipate problems and take decisive action to solve them to prevent recurrence. 6. Ability to comprehend complex verbal and written instructions. 7. Ability to interact effectively with supervisors, customers, and co-workers.
Required Education and Experience Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. 2+ years related experience. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Can have experience in lieu of associates degree, 5 years or more.
Has worked on SMT equipment as a Technician for Set up, and has knowledge of Wave Solder, reflow profiling, printing (DEK), laser marking, board singulation, ESD, and either Fuji, Panasonic Assembleon, Universal or JUKI machines.
Physical Demands Ability to sit for extended periods. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to use close vision, color vision, and depth perception for extended periods.
Work Environment Employee is frequently required to work near moving mechanical parts.
