Soils Lab Technician Level II Location: Mobile, AL Salary Range: Based on experience Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt Benefits: Full time regular benefit package Employment Type: Full time Regular Department: Soils Lab Description: Thompson Engineering, Inc has an immediate opportunity for a Soils Lab Technician Level II in our Mobile, AL location. This position is responsible for the processing, testing and reporting of soil, asphalt and concrete materials to the Soils Lab Supervisor. Duties: 1. Log in samples of materials. 2. Set up samples including weighing and drying samples. 3. Perform tests using appropriate ASTM methods. 4. Entering test data by hand using the proper forms. 5. Clean up of work area to include wiping down test area and sweeping. 6. Perform general maintenance on lab equipment. 7. Assist drilling department and construction material department as required by Supervisor. 8. Ensure quality of samples 9. Work in a manner that is safe and follows company policies and procedures 10. Performs tests efficiently under minimal supervision.
Qualifications: High school degree or equivalent, general maintenance skills, above average math skills, and ability to learn and follow directions. Must be able to obtain NICET Level II certification within one year of employment.
Minimum of 2 years experience in a soils laboratory environment.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs, stand for extended periods of time in one place, and work in indoor and outdoor conditions. Prior outdoor working experience is preferred.
