Job Description
Responsible for design, validation and implementation of components and process for packaging and aseptic filling. Work with internal and external customers (Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Technical Services, Marketing and Purchasing) to develop robust and cost effective process, which will satisfy all customer requirements. Identify and lead the implementation of innovative packaging technologies and aseptic processing techniques to increase manufacturing yield and reduce cost.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Establish standards for technical excellence in the packaging and aseptic processing.
2. Monitor and report process yields, cycle time and variability. Use Six Sigma DMAIC, Lean and other tools to better understand the filling processes. Identify and lead projects to improve yields and process efficiency, increase throughput and reduce variation.
3. Lead investigator for customer complaints.
4. Project manager for mid to large size projects.
5. Technology transfer from R and D to manufacturing.
6. Develop specifications, batch records, bill of materials and resolving technical issues with component suppliers.
7. Maintain the collaborative relationship with partnering organizations such as Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Engineering, Supply Chain, etc.
Job Requirements
Qualifications

1. Must have experience in packaging and aseptic filling operations. Some experience with lyophilization desirable.
2. Understanding of Specifications, JDE and BOM structure
3. Experience within a cGMP manufacturing operation is preferred.
4. Strong communication skills
5. Knowledge of design control is a plus.
6. PC proficiency with Word, Excel and Project.
7. Working knowledge of, and ability to apply, ASTM, ISTA and ISO standards and procedures.
8. Manage projects and deadlines to ensure all new product and package improvement deadlines are met
9. Troubleshoot packaging and aseptic processing operations
10. Establish best practices and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Education and/or experience
•B.S. in Packaging, Material Science or Mechanical Engineering preferred, with at least 6 years of relevant experience, MS with at least 4 years, or PhD with at least 2-3 years of experience in cold chain packaging and logistics.
Physical Demands
•Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs.
•In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility. Working Environment
•No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in the work environment.
•Must be able to work overtime as required.
•Must be able to work in a warehouse setting.
•Inside working conditions.
•5% travel
