Overview:
Macy's Logistics and Operations (Macy's Inc.) is seeking candidates for a Vice President, Transporation. Candidates must have a strong familiarity of retail and/or consumer goods distribution practices, proven carrier management and negotiation skills, prior experience managing routing operations and related systems, and regulatory/industry knowledge. The successful candidate should have a proven record of process improvement in a matrix organization.
Key Accountabilities:
Create strategic plans to achieve performance expectations for cost, service, visibility, and sustainability goals.
Plan, direct, organize and control overall transportation performance for the organization. Process owner of the transportation activities managed by direct reports.
Guide internal transportation policies, as well as other transportation activities not directly controlled by V.P. or direct reports (i.e. Store Shuttle, FBO Delivery, Reverse Logistics), to ensure an integrated distribution system which achieves overall organizational objectives.
Identify negotiation parameters & interests. Oversee negotiation outcomes and process for contracts with equipment, service, and materials suppliers.
Lead team of direct reports, by exhibiting Brand Values, and incorporating specific development goals/objectives, dedicated feedback sessions and demonstrate decisive performance management.
Review analyses of activities, costs, operations, negotiations, and forecast data to determine department or division progress toward stated goals and objectives. Prepare and present recommendations for management evaluation.
Partner with other business leaders, and lead, process improvements leading to expense savings and service improvement.
Recommend capital expenditures.
Approve requisitions for equipment, materials and supplies within limits of department budget.
Ensure compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety, rules and government regulations.
Oversee investigations into causes of customer or vendor complaints and responds accordingly
Approve negotiation terms for utilization of vendor private fleets.
Any other responsibilities that management deems essential.
Minimum Requirements
Flexibility in work schedule and ability to travel.
Bachelor's degree. Master's degree and/or additional professional training in business disciplines desirable.
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience.
Knowledge of and ability to use PC programs such as Word, Excel, Access, Lotus Notes, and PowerPoint to create communications, presentations, and analyses.
Preferred Requirements (in addition to Experience Needed above):
Strong leadership/teamwork skills.
Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Strong analytical skills.
Strong negotiating skills.
Prior experience building and achieving business plans and budgets.
Knowledge of Macy's systems such as JDA TMS, FedFlo, RDS, WMS, and RCV or experience with similar business products to be able to make recommendations on current or future state capability and facilitate on-going improvements.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and ensure timely completion of assignments.
Willingness to make and defend informed decisions in a fast-paced, matrix organization.
