Job Description Under minimal supervision of the Manager, Strategic Procurement - Americas in Houston, TX, the Strategic Procurement Specialistis responsibleforidentifying low cost sourcing opportunities, preparing reverse auction events, developing and evaluating business proposals, supplier risk assessments, qualifying successful suppliers and coordinating transitions to new suppliers with others in procurement. The Strategic Procurement Specialist shall also act as liaison with the quality and engineering departments to resolve issue which may arise during quoting, sampling and production of components and as a team member fully participate with the Valve Automation Global Procurement Teams.
Responsibilities include: · Support division policies, goals and objectives. · Source, evaluate and qualify new suppliers to develop a world-class supplier base. · Support and manage the material sourcing plan to insure timely availability of direct materials. · Establish and meet cost containment/ cost reduction targets by pursuing opportunities through alternate sourcing, design improvements & benchmarking. · Manage existing supplier base to ensure quality levels and continued cost improvement objectives are maintained. · Identify new sources for components supporting product line transfers and new products. · Manage the overall sourcing process from quote package preparation, review of technical & commercial matters, negotiations with suppliers, final selection and contract completion. · Support Production and Materials Management Teams to insure optimum inventory levels are achieved. · Coordinate with R&D/Product engineers regarding requirements for product transfers and new product developments. · Coordinate with all Valve Automation manufacturing sites to consolidate and optimize pricing on direct materials. · Develop strategies in conjunction with other world area procurement organizations to realize and maximize the advantages of AP low cost suppliers. · Maintain a positive relationship with other Valve Automation facilities and corporate office. · Review, approve/disapprove matters pertaining to Strategic Procurement. · Maintains good internal relationships with subordinate and peer Managers, in Valve Automation - NA, as well as other Valve Automation operations, worldwide. · Requires good working relationships, frequent supplier contact and some contact with government agencies. · Will provide inflation model input and reporting, supplier performance (including quality and OTD), monthly status reports, MIN database maintenance, and maintain a qualified supplier listing. · Will be responsible for meeting annual material net inflation containment objectives, project schedule, supplier OTD and quality performance, MIN data integrity goals, as well as supplier REACH compliance targets. Job Requirements · Bachelors degree in Business Administration or equivalent. Preferred: Masters degree in Business Administration. · At least five years experience in Global Procurement/Sourcing initiatives (preferred). · Exposure to and understanding of the Reverse Auction process (preferred). · Excellent communication skills both verbal and written (English Language). · Ability to work independently. · Ability to manage multiple tasks. · Ability to negotiate complex terms and conditions with potential or existing suppliers. · Ability to travel both domestically and internationally. · Understanding of the materials planning process including MRP and production planning. · Ability to read and interpret technical drawings. · APICS â?? CPIM certification a plus.
