Substation Engineer-Electrical/Project Lead/High Voltage Substations
Client has an opening in their Raleigh, NC office for a Lead Electrical Engineer that has knowledge of substation design and engineering. A PE license is REQUIRED to be considered for this position. Relocation assistance will be considered for highly qualified candidates.
Responsibilities:
-> Lead / work with a project team to create all design documents and drawings for substation projects.
-> Create design documents and drawings for a project, including creating wiring diagrams from schematics, generating bills of materials, and applying field mark-ups of project as-built drawings with minimal supervision
-> Perform Engineering support tasks such as relay burden, lighting, load flow, and short circuit calculations with minimal supervision
-> Apply engineering application software to complete engineering tasks such as ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, and load flow and short circuit studies
-> Communicate and coordinate project activities with project engineer, customer representatives, and others as needed
-> Apply engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI
-> Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments
-> Other duties as required
Requirements:
-> Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university, with a power background preferred
-> PE is required (if licensed in another state must be able to obtain a license within one year of date of hire)
-> 10+ years of related experience and/or proven knowledge in substation power engineering and design
-> Strong knowledge of AC/DC fundamentals, three phase power systems, and per-unit mathematics and symmetrical components
-> Strong knowledge and understanding of substation components and their functions
-> Working knowledge of substation foundation and structural steel design
-> Knowledge of design documents and drawings necessary to complete a project
-> Knowledge of engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI
