Supervisor - Freight OperationsJob Description Can you supervise dock labor at show site and loading and unloading procedures at show site? Can you determine and request labor needed? Are you looking for a company where YOU can lead our freight team to the future? If you answered, "YES, yes I am," here is what we are looking for: We are seeking a talented, enthusiasticFreight Operations Supervisorwho will give our clients both the best internal and external service in the industry. This important role will supervise the day-to-day activities and operations of the freight department including appropriate labor and equipment, evaluating job assignments, scheduling coordinators and staff, and preparing/calculating/submitting appropriate paper work, payroll and job costs. You will also: * Supervise material handling and dock labor crews as assigned to the facilities in the city * Manage the employees who are responsible for getting freight to show site dock from warehouse * Oversee operation of dock loading and unloading at show-site * Determine and request equipment, tools and labor to produce shows * Ensure job cost is kept to a minimum without sacrificing service to customer * Properly analyze and explain invoices to exhibitors * Assist the Freight Operations Manager with training dock labor for material handling practices, safety issues, etc * Inspect and ensure all Safety Procedures are being followed * Check for and ensure that quality control is being practiced on all jobs * Inspect for proper use and quantity of labor * Supply a written report to Operations Manager at the end of each attended show * Meet with Operations Manager monthly for upcoming show assignments * Analyze production schedules * Review all labor calls with the assigned supervisor * Ensure information is being dispersed to appropriate departments in a timely manner * Attend pre-con meetings * Hold meetings with our support vendors * Meet with Warehouse Manager on special events * Make sure that all paperwork is processed properly through your department as well as others Now that you know what this position does, do you have the background to do the job?Required Experience * You will need an Associate's Degree, but Bachelor's Degree is preferred * Four (4) or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education & experience strongly preferred * You must be able to lift and or move up to 50 pounds * You will need to have a good working knowledge of advance freight training courses * Cross-training in freight warehouse and marshalling yard, as well as training in OSHA and other safety requirements for this industry * Trained in the use of material handling tools and trucking equipment Ready to supervise your next career move?It is time to submit your resume online.
