Johns Manville is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Plant Manager at our Plattsburgh, NY plant.
The Plattsburgh, NY plant is a member of the Johns Manville Roofing Systems Group which is one of thirteen facilities in producing commercial products for the roofing industry. The plant produces self adhered products, APP modified bitumen products & SBS modified bitumen ttsburgh services the northeastern U.S. for APP, SBS, and self adhered products.
Responsibilities:
Drives Service, Quality and Cost metrics.
Demonstrated ability to drive continuous productivity improvement in manufacturing operations.
Leads, manages and develops managers and employees to assure the necessary capabilities and culture are in place to maintain effective operations. This includes establishing direction, gaining commitment, delegating, and building organizational capabilities.
Develop and coach a staff that is committed to the JM value structure and achievement of business goals.
Create a work environment that ensures the safety and health of employees and community.
Focus on continuing to improve the competitiveness of the operations by continuous improvement of our people, business processes, and technologies.
Coordinates the activities of this facility and resources to meet business needs.
Models the way with expectations related to the JM “Pillars” ~ customer satisfaction, employee commitment, financial strength, environmental respect, integrity and operational excellence.
Ability to evaluate financial performance and take appropriate actions.
Recognize customer commitment and drives activity for continued quality improvement.
Lead the capital expenditure process for the plant.
Improve efficiency and capacity through capital expenditure (investing opportunities to increase the plant capacity and ability to produce additional product).
Ability to access and develop appropriate metrics for the plant.
In conjunction with senior group management, will establish and manage activities to meet short and long term plant goals
Design, implement and manage measurement tracking and reporting systems for the plant.
Represent JM to the external community and agencies.
Requirements:
College Degree 10+ years required with a success profile in a manufacturing environment
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Plant Manager or equivalent managerial responsibility.
Evidence of strong leadership skills and motivational abilities.
Demonstrated solid financial and business acumen
Demonstrated success in growing plant operations while showing reduction in cost.
Success with quantifiable productivity activities
Experience in process improvement methodologies.
Proven knowledge and capabilities in plant financial systems / processes
Demonstrated ability with plant budgets and meeting financial commitments.
Experience in leading salaried and hourly workforce
Experience with environmental permitting, regulatory agencies and plant safety programs.
Maintaining union-free environment
Experience in managing capital programs
Desire for continued positional growth within Johns Manville which may require relocation amongst plants or to the corporate headquarters in Denver, CO in future years.
Technical hands-on background
Additional consideration given for:
SAP experience
Supply chain experience
Preference for science or engineering degree
Previous experience with manufacturing asphalt based roofing products
Experience in lean and/or continuous improvement discipline
Experience in implementing and maintaining quality programs
