Technician-Systems
Minimum (3) years experience in IP and/or telephony protocols.
Must have (3) years in operations and troubleshooting experience.
(2) Years or equivalent experience of Lucent and Motorola switching and voicemail platforms.
(2) Years or equivalent experience of project management.
(2) Years of scripting and/or coding experience.
Capable of supporting multiple projects simultaneously.

Experience with packet/protocol analyzers a formance of all required tasks in support of the Operations and Maintenance of multiple production platforms located throughout the Verizon Wireless footprint. Namely, the Lucent SWD (National Voice Mail Messaging), VVM (Visual Voice Mail - both Alcatel-Lucent and Comverse), Ubicell (cell-site extender), Group Communications, Content Filtering, OMA (Office Message Assistant) and adjunct system monitoring platforms. This position requires the flexibility to work (as necessary) office-hours, off-hours and on-call hours to interact closely with regional, maintenance engineering, and vendor personnel to maintain and improve operational availability of the above applications.
Includes leadership/project management, design, installation/upgrades, configuration, business continuity planning, disaster recovery and operations and maintenance. The position performs hands-on/remote data-base, system and application administration and works closely with maintenance engineering, transport, security, engineering and technology development.
Responsible for coordinating daily activities, special projects and their systems' respective interconnectivity across the VzW National network. This involves resource planning and schedule coordination with regional switch managers and interacting with cross-functional project groups to achieve project goals.
Make design and configuration decisions concerning projects and operational issues. Responsible for the acceptance testing, IOT- and lab-testing and FOA signoff on new projects and features across the VzW National network. Sets priorities for conflicting events and escalates when needed to NNO Manager Network and/or regional management personnel.
Works with HQ, Area/Regional personnel, and vendors to schedule project installations, release and feature upgrades and/or operational related tasks for the VzW National network. Provides timely updates, status, and escalates when required to IAN Operations Manager Network and/or regional management personnel.
Shares monitoring of the above applications on a 24x7x365 basis to provide maximum system availability. This includes the adherence to standard change control policy management, backup procedures, error and alarm monitoring and the associated decision making operational duties. This position identifies opportunities to improve equipment and application standards and establish new practices that result in improved performance, reliability, and availability.
This position provides multiple opportunities for programming, scripting and database usage/creation in the process of automating and improving operational visibility into the performance of the commercial services.
