QCT partners with nearly 60 UMTS network operators around the globe.
Qualcomm in Farnborough is the main software development site for the 2G (GERAN) side of QCT UMTS chipset solution. The team here develop and maintain the stack from the lower layers (physical layer) through to the main GERAN protocol areas (LapDm, RR, RLC/MAC, LLC etc). Features covered include basic GSM voice, text messaging (SMS) through to packet data (GPRS, EGPRS).
The main activity of this role is to perform lab tests using GERAN conformance test equipment (Anite SAT and R&S CRTU-G) and stand alone test (call) boxes (Agilent 8960 and R&S CMU200). This short intensive test programme needs the support of a competent tester with some experience of GERAN conformance testing (GCF, PTCRB). Also the candidate will be using in-circuit emulators (Lauterbach) to drive units under tests (UUT).
Skills/Experience - Experience with Anite SAT (GSM and GPRS/EGPRS) test equipment. - Experience in handling Microsoft Window Based portable client computers. - Familiarity with modern GSM mobile interfaces. - Previous testing experience in mobile phone industry. Responsibilities - Managing conformance test equipment (configuration, setting of campaigns etc) - Setting up of client platforms used to run automation test scripts and keep UUT logs. - Gathering of test logs according to test plan. - Presentation of test results to an internal audience in a written and verbal manner. Education Requirements Higher level (i.e. diploma) of qualification in telecommunication, electronics or electrical engineering preferred.
