Tool/Process Engineer
The manufacturing/reliability engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining stable and capable production/business processes as they pertain to equipment, facilities and tooling functionality following the WCM model. The manufacturing/reliability engineer is required to maintain both machine/equipment capabilities and reliability as they relate to safety, throughput, quality, equipment integrity, and for monitoring/correcting related issues of assembly, machining and high pressure die position will conduct the following:
• Plan, test and supervise the implementation of preventive actions in the production operations in order to establish and verify capable, stable and reliable production processes in terms of safety, quality, delivery and cost.
• Evaluateand approve changes in production processes in cooperation with product engineering and systems support where applicable.
• Track, investigate and resolve issues associated with nonconforming parts through utilization of WCM tools.
• Maintain and evaluate quality and throughput documentation trough stratification and Pareto analysis.
• Work closely with supplier quality engineers, auditors, design engineers, business unit leaders, engineering group leaders, maintenance employees, planners, logistics, etc., in order to define corrective actions and investigate for continuous improvements efforts, utilizing Kaizens and other quality improvements aids.
• Establish, maintain, and administer control plans, PFMEAS and process sheets. Responsible for leading Kaizen initiatives per the WCM model.
• Participate in all aspects of simultaneous engineering efforts for new projects (e.g., APQP, QR83).
• Monitor and improve performance of production processes, tooling and facilities respect to line balancing, cycle time, up time, FTC, ergonomics, and quality including gauge R&Rs, calibrations, and repeatability checks.
• Prepare and present regular reports to both internal and external stakeholders. Provide customer feedback on part/product related issues.
• Oversee and specify plant facilities, tooling, and machinery placement and structural requirements and layout.
• Coordinate and debug, start up and qualification of new program manufacturing machines. Oversee machine retools and rebuilds. Machine and process troubleshooting, tool development, tool life and gauge process.
• Detail and facilitate plant facilities, tooling and equipment, drawings and layout.
• Work with, and support all plant operations in WCM initiatives.
Basic Requirements: • BSME or equivalent BS in related technical discipline (e.g. mathematics, physics)
• Strong computer skills. Must be proficient in MS Office , Auto-Cad, CNC programming andpossess strong problem solving skills (SPC ,DOE, Kaizen and root cause analysis)
• English language competency required, focusing on good written and verbal communications skills.
• Knowledgeable in areas of mistake proofing and problem solving techniques. (MQP process, SPC, PFMEA, and FMEAC, part print reading, andGDT tolerances)
• WCM audit experience is a plus
• ASQ, CQA, CQE certification, knowledge and experience with automated production equipment.
• Must be self- directed and willing to work any shift.
Preferred Requirements: • CMRP certified
• Candidate should have 2 or more years ofmanufacturing experience in automotive assembly machining and die casting
