Job Description
Intermountain Healthcare's Courier Services helps Intermountain achieve its mission through the timely and efficient delivery of items between Intermountain facilities. This position operates a motor vehicle, including heavy duty vans, to transport and deliver mail, supplies, and equipment on an assigned route. Because the deliveries to be made are critical to the daily operation of our facilities and the care of our patients, it is critical that the applicant be someone who is dependable and committed to work all shifts as scheduled. The incumbent must have the ability to adhere to a daily delivery schedule between Intermountain locations.
An Intermountain van or work vehicle will be provided to employee for use during their shift. Couriers are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of delivery vehicles at all times and in all weather conditions, including wind, rain, snow and heat.
Couriers spend much of their time in a motor vehicle but once they arrive at each destination, they are responsible to hand deliver multiple items to destinations within a facility. Candidates must be capable of walking through our facilities to make these deliveries.
Intermountain Couriers will not be permitted to use any form of tobacco products on any Intermountain Healthcare owned or leased property, including medical campuses, office buildings, parking lots or company vehicles. Employees are required to maintain the cleanliness of the courier vehicle daily.
As part of the employment process, initial and periodic reports of Motor Vehicle Records will be run. Failure to disclose any violations could result in termination of employment.
Courier Services operates seven days a week. Hours may include occasional holiday shifts and requires availability on both Saturday and Sunday. Because of the importance of providing continuing courier service, we rely on your stated availability. You will be unable to change that availability for at least 16 weeks, although an occasional day off may be accommodated.
Entry Rate: 10.70

Minimum Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- Must be 21 years of age
- Valid Utah Driver's License
- Driving Record in compliance with Intermountain Healthcare's Motor Vehicle Driver Policy. Generally a potential new hire can have no more than three moving violations in the last three years.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in all weather conditions and at all times both day and night with exposure to the elements, including wind, rain, snow and heat
- Ability to read, follow directions and to locate addresses
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent verbal communication
- Proven ability to work independently
- Ability to learn and use a computerized tracking system
- Willing to obtain CDL Medical Card. This is an employment related physical exam performed by a qualified physician upon an offer of employment; it is NOT a commercial driver's license.
- Select routes require the courier to successfully pass a driver's road test as required by DOT to operate a commercial motor vehicle (Box Truck)
- Must be able to work flexible shifts including occasional weekends and holiday shifts
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds and to occasionally lift 70 pounds
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time throughout the day
