Turf Care Skilled Trades: Test Technician
Test Technician Technician V John Deere Turf Care is seeking a qualified Test Technician to support the growth in platform product testing that comes from the current test lab expansion project. In general, you will set-up and run a broad range of tests in support of EPDP. Specifically, you will: * Work with Applied Mechanics Engineers to understand the goal of the test and the required data that must be collected. You will then set-up and run tests that meets those requirements. * Instrument test vehicles to collect various data points for use by Product Engineering in product development. * Fabricate fixtures as required to appropriately hold test parts during testing. * Monitor ongoing tests to verify that all test parameters are within bounds. * Perform scheduled maintenance on test vehicles to keep durability tests running. What it Takes We need someone who works well in a team environment, collaborates well with Engineering and thrives on solving problems. Additionally, we require: * Familiarity with a broad range of John Deere equipment. * Ability to troubleshoot gas and diesel engines * Ability to diagnose issues with mechanical and/or hydraulic systems. * Experience with general instrumentation including thermocouples, strain gauges, accelerometers, pressure sensors, torque sensors, and wheel force transducers. * Ability to concept and fabricate fixturing in support of test set-up. * A willingness to pursue additional training to fill gaps in experience. A strong candidate will also have: * An Associate’s degree in a related technical discipline. * Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits. * Ability to program PLCs to control test parameters.
