Usability Engineer Leader
Title: Usability Engineer Leader Location: AZ: ARIZONA-FORT HUACHUCA This is a full-time position at the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC), Fort Huachuca, AZ. The Candidate works in the High Frequency (HF), Very High Frequency (VHF), and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Radio test Facility developing RF Test procedures and performing conformance standards testing on various HF, VHF, and UHF radios and systems. Utilizes industry, military, and other standards to develop test procedures. Interfaces with other DOD and industry organizations in the development of test procedures. Validates all developed test procedures to insure compliance to standards and accuracy. Performs testing of HF, VHF and UHF radios and systems using developed plans and test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment. Writes reports and assessments based upon testing. Assists technicians in the operation and, maintenance and problem resolution of HF, VHF and UHF Radios and systems. Assists in the testing of VHF and UHF radio systems as required. Develops automated test procedures utilizing LabView. Validates automated procedures. Trains technicians in the use of the automated procedures and provides engineering support during testing using the automated procedures. Essential Job Functions * Develops and implements current website usability documents that are used for the organizational website. * Gathers and reviews user and task data from a variety of sources. * Develops usability test plans and conducts usability tests. * Assists in developing usability courses to various groups in the organization. * Ensures user interface design consistency across all product modules. * Works with the usability, product and development teams to develop and write standards and guidelines. * Assists with user interface specifications. * Collaborates with product teams to prioritize usability issues. * Understands and promotes the process of user-centered design. Basic Qualifications * Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience * Bachelor's degree in technical communication, human factors, or related field preferred * Six or more years of usability experience engineering * Experience working with customer data gathering and analysis methods * Experience working with contextual inquiries, user profiling, task analysis, and focus groups * Experience working with software development process
Other Qualifications Applicant must have received a BS in EE from an accredited college or university and 3 years of related work experience. One year experience can be substituted by 15 semester hours completed toward a Master's degree in a technically related field. Two years of experience can be substituted by completion of a Master's degree in a technically related field. Candidate should have in-depth knowledge of various modulation techniques to include AM, FM, FSK, and PSK. The candidate should be able to characterize modulation techniques and perform detailed and complex analysis on signals. Experience and knowledge of test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, power meters, and vector signal analyzer is a plus. The candidate must be able to understand and perform basic oscilloscope measurements such as period, frequency, and voltage. The candidate must also be able to understand and perform basic spectrum analyzer measurements such as channel power, adjacent channel power, occupied bandwidth, carrier to noise ratio, harmonic distortion, and inter-modulation distortion. The candidate should also be able to perform test measurements to include impedance, VSWR, sensitivity, SINAD, and other related signal and noise measurements.
