Responsibilities
Ratings Quality: -Participate in rating committees and portfolio reviews -Ensure robust broad thinking about credit -Ensure rating consistency across regions and sectors -Identify credit trends and be vigilant on credit risk issues -Verify that tools, data and information are adequate -Assess timeliness and quality of monitoring -Identify training opportunities and resource issues
Rating Methodologies and Practices : - Coordinate annual reviews of US public finance and sub-sovereign methodologies and updates to methodologies as needed - Ensure that ratings are consistent with our methodologies, practices and policies - Lead or participate in projects that aim to improve consistency or enhance methodologies - Develop guidelines as needed to assist in the application of methodologies
Internal Communication: - Challenge ratings and credit assumptions as needed - Provide guidance on policies and procedures and training to analysts - Keep analysts and management informed of rating quality concerns - Contribute to Credit Policy communications - Report on rating and credit events and trends
External Communication: - Author special comments on credit and analytical issues - Interact with key market participants (e.g. conferences, investor meetings) - Review press releases/credit opinions/analyses, methodologies and special comments
Qualifications Strong academic background in Economics, Public Policy, or Business and at least 8 years experience. Significant credit/risk assessment experience gained from a financial institution, asset manager or public accounting firm. Critical skills include excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical abilities, initiative and ownership in key areas of responsibility, quantitative aptitude, and knowledge of statistics. Ideal candidate will be resourceful, organized, a team player, a critical thinker, highly responsive, and someone who adapts quickly to a fast changing environment.
