Description:
Under the direction of the Operations Manager and or General Manager, supervises directly or through team leaders, the receiving, warehousing and shipping of the product in a professional manner consistent with the stated mission of APL Logistics cost objectives and customer requirements. This individual may supervise one or more major sections of the warehouse. Works in concert with other management team members to provide direction, guidance and coaching to staff members within a positive work environment. Within the scope of this position's responsibilities, the incumbent must apply the APL Logistics Continuous Improvement (ACI) Model for operational efficiency to improve business processes, increased proficiency and increase efficiency through waste elimination while at the same time, meeting Corporate values and objectives.
Accountabilities:
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
* Directly manage the facility maintenance, working with the Operations Manager to ensure MHE and building equipment are in proper working order to maintain safety requirements * Work with customer and company vendors to maintain (PM) planned maintenance schedules and acquire work order quotes which secure the best rates for facility repairs * Assists management team in acting as liaison between APL Logistics, customers and carriers to ensure the highest level of quality service is provided. * Identify and implement processes in order to ensure the facility meets or exceed budget requirements. Identify and implement cost saving initiatives that impact both the facility and the company as a whole. * Ensure the facility is in constant compliance with all Federal and State OSHA and Company Safety requirements and maintain an injury & accident free work environment. * Apply the 5S Lean methodology to create and sustain a safe, clean and orderly facility. * Must ensure compliance of subordinates with written policies as set forth in dress code policy, attendance program and employee handbook. * Promotes employee development through in-house training, goal setting and achievement feedback. Recognition of accomplishments should be prompt and ongoing. * Provides management with recommendations for promotions, wage increases and terminations * Takes timely corrective disciplinary measures via progressive and well documented discipline program. * Promotes and maintains an ongoing safety awareness program. Schedules and conducts safety meetings and ensures that all preventative safety measures required are in place and that the facility remains in compliance with all city, state and federal regulations. * Promotes ongoing training for subordinates to ensure they are in compliance with Company requirements. * Exceed standards as set by the company for safety, quality, productivity and customer services. * Conduct formal reviews and recognition of accomplishments should be prompt and ongoing. * Controls cycle counts and ensures that counts are accurate and reported. * Monitors product disposition and ensures good space management. * Assist in physical inventories, documents in accordance with procedures and follows up with operators
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Some college preferred. * 2-3 years experience in warehouse work. * At least one (1) year in lead position of some type. Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * Completed PC courses are highly desirable. * Familiar with warehouse management and operations including use of equipment and maintenance of same. * Know inventory control management and be familiar with distribution service operations. * Have good verbal and written communication skills. * Be able to develop schedules. * Must have attention to detail. * Must be able to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines. * Must have good interpersonal & leadership skills. * Must have analytical and comprehensive skills. * Teamwork - showing a commitment to teamwork and collaboration. * Respect - extending dignity and respect to all people. * Integrity - fostering trust and a positive work environment. * Innovation - bringing creativity to the workplace. * Customer Focus - achieving Company, department, and personal goals through a strong customer focus.
