    We are currently seeking an Assistant Project Manager for our Waycross, GA team . We are looking for candidates with at least 5 years of experience with wastewater and water treatment and infrastructure. Candidates must also be capable of leading a team. Job duties will be 75% hands-on operations and 25% administration. They will include planning and coordinating work schedules, projects, and equipment downtime; and utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software for preparing work-related reports, charts, graphs, and data submittal requirements. You would have significant responsibility for the administrative, supervisory, and technical management of the treatment plants. We would ask you to plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of a large staff to achieve overall management goals and objectives of the system.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Define the functions and objectives of the treatment plant

    • Inspect program and project to ensure that the activities are being expeditiously and effectively accomplished and are properly utilizing personnel, equipment, and materials

    • Develop new plans, programs, and operations to attain higher quality levels of service and/or cost savings over present conditions

    • Plan major capital improvement needs and corresponding revenue sources to meet expected long-range growth

    • Prepares an annual budget and monitor financial revenue and expense reports according to monthly budgeted variances

    • Stay abreast of technical and operational changes in the wastewater treatment industry

    • Attend meetings with other city or county department leaders, Water and Sewer Authority, State and Regional officials, and the general public to justify, defend, negotiate, or settle matters involving significant or controversial issues with individuals or groups

    • General plant administrative responsibilities include:

    • Direction and coordination of subordinate supervisory staff

    • Assigning and scheduling work

    • Reviewing work for accuracy and clarity

    • Training, instructing, coaching and mentoring personnel in work methods

    • Performing routine performance evaluations

    • Using knowledge to offer recommendations for improved work performance, including performance improvement plans, disciplinary plans, etc.

    • Working with internal resources to understand and resolve complaints and concerns

    • Assisting in the process of interviewing candidates for vacant positions

    • Attend safety classes, reinforce and comply with company safety policies

    • Work harmoniously with ESG employees and the public and comply with ESG policies

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, science, business, or public administration and five years of progressively responsible experience in one of our business lines. Any combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have a valid Georgia driver's license (CDL preferred) and meet the company's minimum driving standards. Must be certified by the State Board of Examiners as a Certified Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II or related field or work.

    Knowledge of:

    • Supervising, mentoring and coaching of employees

    • Application of knowledge of all basic principles of hydraulics and the biological, chemical, and physical principles of polluted influent to plants

    • Equipment, materials, and operation practices involved in the collection of wastewater

    • Safety practices, procedures, and equipment used

    Skill in:

    • Supervising and training subordinate staff

    • Operating standard business office equipment

    • Oral and written communication

    Ability to:

    • Plan, organize, supervise, and inspect the work of the subordinate personnel

    • Determine long-range needs for expansion and reconstruction

    • Plan and organize work for the efficient accomplishment of defined objectives
