CNC Swiss Machinist

Description:

Large aerospace manufacturer in Fullerton looking for a 2nd shift swiss screw machinist.

Position summary

Set-up and operates one or more CNC Screw Machines to perform a series of machining operations, such as boring, threading, facing, grooving, drilling, and turning.

Essential Functions

• Works from routers and standard work orders to produce parts to specifications.

• Loads bar feeders and monitors overall machine operations.

• Machines parts to specifications using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, thread go and no-go gauges.

• Receives bar stock and maintains finished goods Kanbans in the screw machine area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Ability to perform machining operations, working from routers and standard work orders. Ability to understand oral and written communications. Must read blue prints and have a good mathematical understanding. Must be capable of producing first articles.

Five (5) years experience set-up and operating CNC Swiss-Type screw machines.

The ideal candidate must possess the following skills

• Thorough understanding of setting tool offsets and live tooling (milling cutters)

• Knowledge of setting up CNC lathe/mill operations for use with ferrous, bar, and extrusion in various alloys

• Strong knowledge of calipers, micrometers, height gage, and various other measuring instruments

• Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering data

• Ability to edit programs (G&M codes)
