    Job Summary:

    The Crushing Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing daily operations of the crushing plant, including supervision of all hourly field employees working in the quarry or material site. The Crushing Superintendent is also responsible for budgeting, mine planning, permitting, as well as working as member of the project management team to achieve operational goals and objectives. The Crushing Superintendent should strive for maximum performance, production, profitability, while ensuring the safety of his crew.

    Essential Functions:

    -Develop and maintain a safe and environmentally compliant crushing operation.

    -Monitor cost and production and make adjustments accordingly while communicating to the management team.

    -Help develop new operational methods to reduce costs and produce a consistent result.

    -Oversee and direct production to meet quality specifications, quantity requirements, and schedule demands.

    -Oversee quality control program to ensure all products produced meet the required specifications.

    -Oversee maintenance program of crushing plant as well as regular parts ordering and tracking.

    -Manage hourly field employee's time and schedule.

    -Oversee, adhere, and ensure proper compliance with OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations.

    -Maintain accurate records of daily production of materials, equipment hours, and maintenance records.

    -Analyze various potential material sites for estimating productions and providing input for projects to bid.

    -Enforce safety procedures with training and observation to ensure safety policies and procedures are met.

    -Operate equipment as necessary to process material and stockpile.

    -Communicate progress and pertinent issues to management as necessary.

    -Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

    Responsibilities

    Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise:

    -Ability to maintain effective communication with crusher personnel, maintenance personnel, subcontractors, and supervision.

    -Excellent ability to meet deadlines and ensure schedule requirements are met.

    -Must be able to read and interpret equipment manuals, diagrams, OSHA Regulations, MSHA Regulations, and project specifications.

    -Basic understanding of Excel, Word, and Power Point.

    -Ability to be flexible and work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

    -Demonstrate ethical conduct, professional presentation, and cultural awareness.

    Qualifications

    Requirement Experience:

    • 5+ Years of managing crusher plants in Alaska, specifically for Alaska DOT projects.

    • 5+ Years of operating crushing equipment including, jaw crusher, cone crushers, impact crusher, feeders, two and three deck screens, and conveyor systems.

    • 5+ Years of operating heavy equipment and possess knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance.

    • Ability to work both independent and as part of a team.

    • Ability to maintain composure and operate under stressful, time-sensitive deadlines.

    Physical Demands:

    • Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.

    • Continuously required to stand or walk for long periods.

    • Able to wear and demonstrate to employees the use of personal protective equipment including hardhat, safety boots, safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, and/or any other equipment required to perform the job safely.

    Environmental Conditions:

    • The work environment is that of a typical construction job site, outside with varying elements of weather.

    • Often the location will be on a remote construction site long distances from home office.

    Authorized Driver Requirement: Employee must have a valid driver's license and three (3) year clean driving record. Employee must follow all Authorized Driver Policy and Procedures regarding approved vehicle usage.

    All employees must pass Non-DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all UIC Non-DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program guidelines and requirements.

    If working on a DOT project, employees must pass a DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program requirements.
