Laboratory Supervisor

Under the supervision of the designated supervisor, the Laboratory Supervisor directs the work of the testing laboratory. This individual will supervise technicians, provide direction, and coordinate the testing requested by various staff professionals.

Job Responsibilites:

• Performs laboratory tests and/or reduces laboratory data or supervises others in the use of laboratory computers during data reduction.

• Attends staff meetings and coordinates testing requirements from various staff professionals.

• Schedules laboratory staff; trains and motivates laboratory staff.

• Performs, or supervises the performance of, laboratory tests as assigned.

• Assists with the preparation of cost estimates for testing requirements on Firm projects. Controls budgets on laboratory tests.

• Review test results with staff professionals.

• Maintains laboratory supply and equipment inventories and troubleshoots equipment such as air compressor, GeoJac, and cure room.

• Develops or reviews new testing techniques and recommends adoption to management.

• Maintains standard laboratory testing procedures manual and answers questions about the proper application of testing techniques.

• Review all test procedures and test results for quality assurance. Drafts and submits reports to appropriate staff professionals.

• Responsible for running proficiency sample tests for AASHTO Resources in a timely manner

• Submit weekly billing reports

Qualifications:

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, or related field preferred, but not required

• Four years of experience in a technical laboratory setting required.

• Experience in management preferred.
