    An organization within Northrop Grumman's Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division, Mission Enabling Products is a leading designer, producer, and supplier of spacecraft components that power and enable satellites of all classes.     Job Duties

    • Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.

    • Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.

    • Determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup.

    • Use a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments. Make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds.

    • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.

    • Fit and assemble precision parts into mechanical equipment and determine material, parts, and equipment required.

    • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

    Basic Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED.

    • 2 years of related machinist experience

    • Experience with machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders.

    • Good fine motor skills.

    • Willingness and capability to learn new tasks.

    • Good communication skills to effectively interact with peers for training and workflow coordination.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 2-year technical associate's degree

    • Completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

    • Experience with machines that are numerically controlled.

    Salary Range: $46,600 - $81,000

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
