Machinist III Location: Northridge, California, United States Requisition #: 20000G26 Post Date: Oct 16, 2020 Careers that Change Lives As amember of the RD Engineering group in the Advanced Insulin Managementbusiness unit, the individual selected for this role will assist in the designand machining of tools and fixtures in support of diabetes related productssuch as insulin pumps, glucose sensors, and related accessories.Operates a variety of machines to performassigned tasks. You will produce or repair precision tools and fixture usingboth manual and automated equipment and accurate measurements. The person filling this role willbecome part of a dynamic and fast paced RD group with a strong history ofsuccessful product developments. They will have the opportunity to interfacewith internal customer, as well as various functional groups within thediabetes business unit. Theideal candidate for this position has a technical mindset, enjoys working in afast-paced environment on new product design. A Day in the Life Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. + â€¢Interpretsblueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence ofoperations, number of cuts required, and method of setup.â€¢Sets up andoperates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers,planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, ormachines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.â€¢Program / modifynumerically controlled programs on numerically controlled (NC) machines.â€¢Uses a varietyof machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standardshop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds;measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stockfor machining.â€¢Fits andassembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material,parts, and equipment required.â€¢Monitor andverify quality in accordance with standards and control procedures.Collaboratewith other departments within Medtronic on development projects. Must Have: Minimum Requirements + Minimum of 4 years of experience of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience Nice to Have Â·Demonstrates proficiency in the set-up, operation, andcare of special machine tools, such as lathes, mills, drills, jigs, grinders,and fixtures. Â·Experience inusing and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated machines. Â·Effectiveskills in blueprint reading/drafting standards. Â·Previousknowledge experience of GDT applications. Â·Ability to useprecision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements. Â·Knowledge ofthe properties of metal and other material. Â·Good at math with analytical abilities.
