    Overview

    The Operations Manager (1st Shift) is responsible for the operations of a specific process in a high volume, order fulfillment, multi-shift distribution center. Manage all functions to ensure timely, accurate product receipt, order fulfillment, and the organization of resources and processes. Manage processes to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, continual process improvement and drive associate initiatives to create and promote an environment where associates are involved, empowered, and committed to the success of the Company thereby negating the need for third party representation.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure the timeliness, quality and effectiveness of all processes performed within a given area of responsibility.

    • Review opportunities for continuous improvement of warehouse processes.

    • Identify key variables that influence the workflow process and develops and implements changes, enhancing workflow optimization.

    • Effectively manage associates, by creating and sharing a common vision and direction, and an understanding of the organization's strategy.

    • Motivate associates to ensure that predetermined safety, quality, speed, and cost standards are achieved and exceeded.

    • Deliver results in support of the company's strategy and expectations.

    • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA and any other relevant regulations.

    • Ensure safety and good housekeeping practices.

    • Prepare and submit daily and weekly reports including Timecards

    • Make decisions regarding daily manpower requirements based on volume.

    • Ensure uniform execution of policies and procedures.

    • Maintain good associate relations and adherence to policies and procedures, working with HR in the administration of company performance management processes as required.

    • Assure that machinery, equipment and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production.

    • Maintain daily contact with warehouse General Manager regarding issues or concerns.

    • Prepare, deliver, and administer performance appraisals for associates.

    • Assist and provide assistance to other warehouse operations departments to facilitate achievement of warehouse operations goals.

    • Establish performance goals for associates and department to support achievement of warehouse operations goals. Develop team communication to provide department performance updates.

    Other Functions:

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • Supervise the activities of Process Lead(s) and Warehouse Associates to include performance evaluation, coaching, and developing.

    Qualifications

    Education/Certification

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of intellectual instruction and work experience

    • Forklift Certification and Material Handling Equipment experience preferred

    Required Knowledge

    • Knowledge of warehouse processes, practices and tools

    • Basic computer skills to include MS Word, Excel and Outlook

    Experience Required

    • 5+ years supervision in a high volume, multi-shift, order fulfillment warehouse/distribution center.

    Skill and Ability

    • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive associate relations including the handling of associates under high-stress situations

    • Able to multi-task with extreme attention to detail

    • Punctual, accountable, reliable and professional

    • Able to work independently and manage time effectively

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral with the ability to communicate across vertical and horizontal lines

    • Good organization and follow-up skills

    • Be comfortable working with a multicultural staff.

    • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to drive results
