  • Job Description Summary

    Responsible for leading and managing the site molding activities to attain strategic objectives through continuous improvement in productivity, quality, cost and budget compliance. Has overall technical and administrative responsibility for the molding technical leaders and process and tooling engineers and is responsible for injection molding related process development, product development, molding cell development and product line support for all new and existing molded components in support of the molding department to achieve production volumes at the highest quality and lowest cost. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures, and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Direct the operations of the molding department to comply with the highest safety and environmental standards, production schedules, and annual improvements in quality and total costs for all component items.

    • Responsible for talent management for all associates assigned to the molding department, including associate training, development, and coaching, including overall performance evaluation.

    • Establish the strategic direction for molding technology within the site including the development and execution of the strategy and plans.

    • Provide the technical and administrative leadership for the molding department.

    • Active in annual budget preparation and monitoring budget spend throughout the year.

    • Responsible for development and implementation of molding process technologies and the use of best practices.

    • Interface with product development, design, marketing and other business functions to develop process technology related to new products and improvements of molded parts and tooling design with emphasis on manufacturability and the ability to achieve rapid implementation of new products and improvements, while meeting quality and productivity goals.

    • Involved in direct contact with internal and external customers to maintain continual understanding of their needs and expectations related to component supply, cost, and quality.

    • Other duties as required to support the needs of the business

    Minimum Requirements:

    Education:

    • BA/BS Degree required in Plastics Engineering, Science or a related field

    • In Lieu of Bachelor's Degree, Associates Degree with 15 years molding experience required.

    Experience:

    • Seven years of molding or related experience required

    • Five years of people leading experience preferred
