    Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Packer Handler assures by visual inspection that all containers and lids are being manufactured and stacked in trays for packaging according to Berry's quality standards and guidelines in a safe and efficient manner. In performing these responsibilities, employees are to work safely, efficiently and cooperatively in a manner that demonstrates both self-driven work and team member involvement, as needed.

    KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsible for embodying Berry's Behaviors and Values at all times

    Demonstrates personal commitment to safety in the workplace, actively wears required safety PPE (personal protective equipment), demonstrates safe work behaviors, supports safety activities and is aware of surroundings for peer

    Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area. Assist in housekeeping when production is down, slow and prior to the end of shift. Area must be orderly prior to leaving for end of shift

    Inspect product to insure quality. Set aside product that is below quality standards. Work closely with Mold Tech and Supervisor on any quality issues or reject conditions. Watch molds for irregularities or sticking. Timely response to quality issues is key to this position.

    Demonstrate ability to run all machines once trained. Complete assembly of product by installing gaskets in lids and handles into containers as required. Efficient and consistent pace is a must to keep up with the production machine cycles. Flame containers and lids when required.

    Capability to read traveler and ensures product is stacked and packed per instructions that vary with different customers and orders.

    Prepare proper product identification and/or packaging labels. Assist with material handling.

    When the machine experiences an interruption in production the packer/handler will take this available time to clean up oil, sweep, mop, makes boxes or other tasks that may be assigned by the mold tech or supervisor.

    Accurately complete any required paperwork.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

    Must be able to keep-up with the fast-paced production cycles.

    Position requires agility and consistent attention to detail

    Enjoys constant repetitious routine tasks

    Some workstations may require sitting or standing for long periods of time.

    Must be able to frequently lift, bend, and reach to perform necessary job functions.

    Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds safely

    Must be able to identify alpha / numeric product codes

    Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holiday and over-time

    KEY BEHAVIORAL TRAITS FOR SUCCESS

    Dependable, good attendance is mandatory and must report to work on time each day

    Good written and verbal communication skills

    Demonstrated ability to follow directions and pass on important information

    Ability to work alone and in a group setting
