    General Summary

    Apply paints and various coatings to all types of surfaces. Detach and reattach wall mounted pictures, equipment and devices.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Improves and maintains the overall interior appearance by painting and redecorating walls, woodwork and fixtures. Knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint required for different applications.

    • Prepares surfaces for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices, applies paint with a spray gun or brush.

    • May mix colors, oils, white lead and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color or consistency.

    • In general, the work of the maintenance painter requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

    • Maintains the general cleanliness and appearance of the work areas including the workshop.

    • Repairs drywall.

    • Assists others as part of the maintenance team to perform other duties assigned according to personal qualifications.

    Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    • Possess a broad knowledge of facility operations and maintenance

    • Experience with a Facility Computerized Maintenance Management System software (CMMS) highly desired.

    • OSHA-10, OSHA 30, or Haz Work desired.

    Work Environment

    • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions.

    • Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
