  • A Snapshot of Your Day

    The weld shop is responsible for the welding, grinding, assembly, quality and inspection of a wide variety of parts for compressors and associated components. As a Welder with Siemens-Energy you will be responsible for completing multiple part setups, welding and grinding the parts to completion for one of our critical part families.

    How You'll Make an Impact

    • Weld and braze a variety of partsper ASME BPVC Division 1 Sections VIII and IX. Code stamp not required.

    • Perform welding of steel, alloysteel, and stainless steel in positions 1G, 2G, and 3G.

    • Follow established weld procedurespecification (WPS) documents, including preheat, amps, volts, and gascoverage.

    • Maintain operating condition of wirefeeder, gas mixture and welding gun and/or torches.

    • Contour completed welds using a diegrinder.

    • Use burning and air arc equipment torepair defective areas such as blow and sand holes in cast steel.

    • Ideally, but not required, be ableto SMAW or GTAW pipe in 6G position, and weld in flow channels using amirror.

    • Be proficient in oxyacetylene,electric welding, tungsten inert gas, mig welding, brazing, silversoldering, shrinking, or sweating.

    • Working from shop prints withoutinstructions properly layout, mark, hand torch cut, prepare joints,fixture, and tack weld in place a variety of code and non-code work of thehighest complexity.

    • Sound judgment is required to selectproper tips for welding or cutting, and in selection of welding rods.

    • Maintain ASME Code quality andproduce x-ray quality welds.

    • Keep work area clean, orderly, andsafe.

    What You Bring

    • Must have a High School Diploma orGED that can be verified.

    • 1 -3 years welding experience in amanufacturing environment is preferred.

    • Must be willing to work 2nd shiftand be flexible enough to work 1st or 3rd shift on occasion as businessrequires.

    • Must demonstrate the ability to readand interpret blueprints.

    • Have a general knowledge andunderstanding of welding multiple materials.

    • Familiarity with Microsoft OfficeSuite, with basic to intermediate computer skills.

    • Displays a demeanor conducive toprogress through positive change, continuous improvement, and activecontributor by being a great teammate.

    • Math skills to take precisemeasurements and make calculations.

    • Strong oral and writtencommunication skills are required.

    • Problem-solving skills totroubleshoot issues that arise during the manufacturing process isrequired.

    • Applicants must be legallyauthorized for employment in the United States without need for current orfuture employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employeeswith current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
