Position Summary

Prep, sandblast, and apply protective and/or decorative paint finishes to prepared surfaces on a variety of products to meet specifications. Formulate, test, mix and apply liquid coatings to meet specifications. Works independently, mentors Painter as needed.

Core Responsibilities and Tasks

• Follows all policies and guidelines regarding workplace safety and product quality

• Preparation of surfaces for painting includes sanding, cleaning off contaminants, and taping areas not to be painted.

• Reads and understands paint specifications and product data sheets for a variety of paint manufacturers.

• Selects and properly mixes paint for project according to specifications.

• Keeps work area, paint equipment, and tools clean, orderly and in good working condition.

• Performs basic maintenance of painting equipment

• Knowledge of and fitness to use supplied air breathing equipment.

• Contributes to division results and performance

• Take care of internal and external customer needs and expectations

Position Requirements

FORMAL EDUCATION: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required

• Minimum 2 years industrial painting experience.

• Must be familiar with conventional and painting techniques specific to manufacturing needs.

• Must know how to use a variety of types of spray equipment

• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, charts and schematics.

• Must be dependable and work effectively under pressure, often independently.

• Must be able to pass a yearly pulmonary function test.

Preferred: 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing job shop environment
